UMINERS (HK) Announces New Mining Facility in Ethiopia
UMINERS (HK) to Build New Mining Facility in Ethiopia
UMINERS (HK), a prominent mining company and data centers operator, has announced plans to construct a new data center in Ethiopia. The first phase of the project is currently in progress, with the launch scheduled for autumn 2024.
The new facility will have a power capacity of 100 megawatts and will house approximately 24,000 high-performance Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) miners. The equipment to be deployed includes the latest energy-efficient models such as Antminer S21, S21 Hydro, T21, and S19.
Ethiopia was chosen as the location for the new facility due to its access to cost-effective and environmentally sustainable hydroelectric power, making it an ideal setting for efficient and eco-conscious cryptocurrency mining operations.
Batyr Hydyrov, President of UMINERS, emphasized the importance of investing in robust equipment for mining operations. He highlighted the global competition for electrical power and the need for industrial-scale mining to extract remaining bitcoins.
In 2023, Ethiopia ranked fourth globally as a destination for Bitcoin mining rigs, following the USA, Hong Kong, and Asia. The country’s mining-friendly legislation, energy potential, climate conditions, and competitive electricity rates have made it an attractive location for mining operations.
The expansion to Ethiopia aligns with UMINERS’ strategy of global expansion and is expected to significantly increase the company’s mining capacity and strengthen its position in the global market. The initiative is also set to contribute to Ethiopia’s economic and technological development, fostering partnerships and sustainable growth.
UMINERS, founded in 2017, is a global enterprise specializing in cryptocurrency mining equipment sales and data centers management. The company serves as an official distributor for leading mining equipment manufacturers and has branches in various countries including China, Hong Kong, UAE, USA, Singapore, and Oman.
The construction of the new mining facility in Ethiopia represents a significant milestone for UMINERS and underscores the company’s commitment to meeting the evolving demands of the cryptocurrency industry.
