“MetalCore” Launches on Immutable zkEVM: The First Playable Game on the Blockchain
The highly anticipated web3 open-world shooting game “MetalCore” has officially launched on the blockchain Immutable zkEVM, making it the first playable game on the blockchain. The game is currently in its second closed beta period, running from April 9 to April 22, with limited spots available for players.
“MetalCore” is set to revolutionize the gaming industry with its immersive gameplay and unique web3 elements. Players can choose from different factions and engage in battles for resources in outer space, either against other players or the environment. The game is free-to-play, with the cryptocurrency MCG powering its economy. Players can earn MCG and convert it into NFTs, as well as earn in-game currency called “Marks” through various activities within the game.
Studio 369 CEO Matt Candler expressed excitement about the game’s reception during the first closed beta period, with one top player completing over 800 missions and 13,000 kills. The game has already attracted a significant number of new players, with over 40% of Day-1 users being completely new to the game.
Immutable zkEVM, developed by web3 infrastructure firm Immutable, supports smart contracts to provide EVM ZK-rollup for games powered by Polygon. This distinguishes it from Immutable X, which does not support smart contracts. “MetalCore” developer Studio 369 recently secured $5 million in funding from prominent investors, further solidifying the game’s potential in the gaming market.
As “MetalCore” continues to gain traction, players can look forward to the open beta launch by the end of 2024, available on PC through the Epic Games Store. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking game that is reshaping the future of gaming.
