Woman from Dehradun’s Patel Nagar Duped of Rs 3.7 Lakh in Crypto Trading Seminar Scam
A woman from Dehradun’s Patel Nagar fell victim to a cryptocurrency and stock trading scam, losing a whopping Rs 3.7 lakh to fraudsters who promised to teach her the ropes of trading in a seminar. The three accused, Bhavik Chedda, Umang Gogri, and Swaraj Singh, lured her in through an instant messaging app and convinced her to attend online and in-person seminars on crypto-mining and trading.
The fraudsters charged monthly fees for their classes and enticed the woman with promises of high returns on her investments. Initially, she received the returns as promised, but when she invested a significant amount, they blocked her from withdrawing any money. Realizing she had been duped, the woman lodged a complaint with the police, leading to a fraud case being registered.
Inspector Kamal Kumar Lunthi of the Patel Nagar police station is currently investigating the case and working to apprehend the accused. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of falling prey to online scams and the importance of conducting thorough research before investing in any financial scheme.
