INTERPOL Assures Extradition of Fleeing Crypto Chief Nadeem Anjarwalla to Nigeria
INTERPOL Vows to Extradite Fleeing Crypto Chief Nadeem Anjarwalla to Nigeria for Tax Evasion Charges
The International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) has made a bold promise to track down and extradite crypto chief Nadeem Anjarwalla to Nigeria to face tax evasion charges. Anjarwalla, who is currently on the run, is accused of causing the value of the Nigerian currency to plummet against the US dollar.
Vice President of INTERPOL (Africa) Executive Committee, Garba Umar, revealed this information during a television interview on Tuesday. Umar assured the public that the necessary paperwork to bring Anjarwalla back to Nigeria is already in progress.
“We have all the cooperation and we are working on it. One day, he will be brought to justice, it’s just a matter of time,” Umar stated confidently. He emphasized that INTERPOL has the resources and determination to locate Anjarwalla, no matter where he may be hiding.
Anjarwalla and his colleague, Tigran Gambaryan, were detained by the Office of the National Security Adviser in March for allegedly manipulating the naira’s value. While Gambaryan remains in custody in Abuja, Anjarwalla managed to escape during a prayer session.
The Nigerian government has been actively pursuing Anjarwalla, with the assistance of INTERPOL. The President Bola Tinubu-led administration has also filed tax evasion charges against the platform associated with Anjarwalla.
Despite the challenges faced in apprehending Anjarwalla, INTERPOL remains determined to ensure that he faces the consequences of his actions. The international law enforcement agency is committed to upholding justice and holding individuals accountable for financial crimes.
