Vice President Kashim Shettima Launches AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training Initiative in Jigawa State

In a move aimed at positioning Nigeria as a leader in digital transformation in Africa, Vice President Kashim Shettima has unveiled the AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State. The initiative, in partnership with a tech company, is set to train 1,000 Nigerians annually in cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.

During the unveiling ceremony, Vice President Shettima expressed his confidence in Nigeria’s ability to surpass the rest of the world in terms of economy and technology. He emphasized the importance of digital transformation in driving economic growth and development, stating, “We are not merely catching up with the rest of the world; we are poised to overtake them.”

Shettima highlighted Jigawa State’s pioneering role in digital technology adoption and referred to the program as a “homecoming ceremony” for those who have facilitated the country’s journey through the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He also outlined the Federal Government’s vision to establish a network of tech hubs across the nation to fuel Nigeria’s economic growth for years to come.

The Vice President commended the partnership with Gluwa, a tech company, noting its alignment with President Tinubu’s agenda to revolutionize Nigeria’s digital technology sphere. He praised Gluwa for its impact, particularly in empowering Aella Microfinance Bank to disburse over N100 billion to two million Nigerians.

Addressing the global implications of the initiative, Shettima stated, “Our aspiration remains to transform Nigeria into a premier destination for technology outsourcing, combining global expertise with local talent.” Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi also emphasized the significance of the initiative, calling it a rare opportunity for the youth to venture into the digital world of ICT outsourcing.

Governor Namadi highlighted Jigawa’s history with ICT education, citing the state’s Informatics Institute established over two decades ago. He stated that the new initiative aligns with both the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Jigawa state’s 12-Point Agenda, focusing on digital technologies and innovation.

The AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative is set to not only empower Nigerian youth with cutting-edge skills but also position the country as a hub for technology innovation and outsourcing on the global stage.
