Federal Government intensifies efforts to extradite fleeing Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, from Kenya
The chase for Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla has taken a new turn as the Federal Government has successfully traced him to Kenya after his escape from custody in Nigeria. Anjarwalla, who went into hiding upon his arrival in Kenya, is now the subject of intense discussions between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the International Criminal Police, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenyan Police Service to expedite his extradition.
According to sources in the Presidency, Anjarwalla’s cover has been blown, and efforts are underway to bring him to justice for his alleged involvement in tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering amounting to $35.4 million. The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, confirmed in the agency’s bulletin that they are working closely with international law enforcement agencies and governments to ensure Anjarwalla faces the charges against him.
While Anjarwalla remains at large, his colleague Tigran Gambaryan is currently in custody, facing the same charges. The EFCC is determined to send a strong message against financial crimes and disruptions in the country’s forex market by pursuing Anjarwalla and holding him accountable for his actions.
The collaboration between the EFCC, Interpol, the FBI, and other international partners underscores the seriousness of the case and the commitment to bringing Anjarwalla to justice. As the extradition process gains momentum, all eyes are on Kenya as the next chapter in this high-profile case unfolds.
