Nigerian Government Intensifies Efforts to Extradite Binance Executive Nadeem Anjarwalla from Kenya
The Nigerian Federal Government, in collaboration with international law enforcement agencies, is on the hunt for Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who fled custody and sought refuge in Kenya. Anjarwalla, who is facing charges of alleged money laundering activities totaling $35.4 million, had gone into hiding upon his arrival in Kenya but has now been located.
Efforts to expedite Anjarwalla’s extradition back to Nigeria have intensified, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, leading the charge. The EFCC, along with INTERPOL and other agencies, is working diligently to ensure Anjarwalla faces justice for his alleged crimes.
Anjarwalla’s colleague, Tigran Gambaryan, is currently in EFCC custody, awaiting arraignment. Security measures have been heightened, with soldiers involved in monitoring Anjarwalla undergoing interrogation by special investigators from various security agencies.
The EFCC has formally charged Binance, Gambaryan, and Anjarwalla with multiple offenses, including operating financial services without proper licenses and engaging in unlawful forex activities. Additionally, charges have been filed against Binance Holdings Limited for failing to register with the Federal Inland Revenue Service and pay relevant taxes.
The collaborative efforts between Nigerian and international authorities highlight the determination to hold accountable those involved in financial crimes and ensure that justice is served. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as the extradition process unfolds.
