Kenyan Authorities Prepare to Extradite Binance Executive Nadeem Anjarwalla to Nigeria
Kenyan authorities are gearing up to extradite Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive sought by the Nigerian government. Over the weekend, a joint operation involving various agencies successfully captured him in Kenya after weeks of search. Anjarwalla is slated for extradition to Nigeria within the week to face trial on charges related to tax evasion and other offenses.
Anjarwalla, Binance Africa’s regional manager, and another executive, Tigran Gambrayan, have been in legal trouble in Nigeria since February. Anjarwalla managed to escape legal custody in March using a Kenyan passport and has been on the run since.
The ongoing conflict between Binance and Nigerian authorities has escalated with this latest development. Gambrayan, also detained since February, is on trial for alleged tax evasion. The tax evasion proceedings have faced challenges, with the case being adjourned twice due to issues with serving charges to the exchange.
Binance CEO Richard Teng has pledged cooperation with Nigerian authorities to resolve the issue, but efforts to secure the release of the detained executives remain undisclosed. Gambrayan’s bail application hearing has been postponed, and he is currently held at the Kuje correctional center.
The situation between Binance and Nigerian authorities continues to unfold, with the fate of the detained executives hanging in the balance. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
