MapMetrics Project Migration from Solana to peaq: Enhancing DePIN and Machine Real-World Assets
MapMetrics, a decentralized physical infrastructure project focused on creating a global map using Web3 technology, has announced its decision to leave the Solana ecosystem and migrate to peaq, a layer-1 solution designed specifically for DePIN and Machine real-world assets (RWAs).
The drive-to-earn project, which rewards users with tokens and NFTs for providing live traffic and map data, made the move to peaq due to the platform’s modular DePin functionality. Brent van der Heiden, co-founder of MapMetrics, highlighted the benefits of peaq’s decentralized multi-chain machine identity and DePIN data verification framework in enhancing the project’s features.
The transition process will be carried out in multiple phases, starting with smart contract deployments on peaq and eventually moving core business logic to the layer-1. Native token minting will also be available on peaq, with a bridging option for existing holders.
Despite MapMetrics’ departure from Solana, the blockchain remains a popular choice for many DePIN projects. Natix, another DePIN mapping project, recently announced the launch of its native token on the Solana blockchain while maintaining collaboration with the peaq network.
The move to peaq is expected to open up new opportunities for MapMetrics, with potential synergies in the wider peaq ecosystem and access to a community of DePIN enthusiasts. The project aims to leverage these connections to secure new partnerships and expand its reach in the decentralized mapping space.
As the DePIN landscape continues to evolve, the decision to migrate to peaq represents a strategic move for MapMetrics as it seeks to enhance its capabilities and tap into the growing demand for decentralized physical infrastructure projects.
