Nigerian Government Confirms Location of Binance Executive Nadeem Anjarwalla, Efforts Underway for Extradition
The Nigerian government has confirmed the location of Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla, who escaped custody in Kenya. An anonymous source from the presidency revealed that efforts are underway between Nigerian and Kenyan authorities to expedite Anjarwalla’s extradition.
According to reports from the Nigerian Punch newspaper, Anjarwalla, along with his colleague Gambaryan, is accused of money laundering totaling $35,400,000. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is collaborating with global authorities to bring the Binance executive back to Nigeria to face charges.
Anjarwalla’s escape on March 22 sparked a nationwide search, with EFCC taking over the case from the Office of the National Security Adviser. The crackdown on Binance is part of efforts to combat alleged manipulation of Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
EFCC Chairman Olukoyede emphasized the importance of prosecuting Binance executives to address distortions in the forex market. While Gambaryan is currently in custody, efforts to extradite Anjarwalla are ongoing.
The Central Bank of Nigeria Governor revealed that over $26 billion had been funneled through Binance without a trace, underscoring the severity of the allegations against the executives.
As the Nigerian government works to bring Anjarwalla back to face justice, the case continues to unfold with international implications. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
